Day 1 Results

Under very difficult conditions, 6 new DDs were awarded. The walking was tough, as tough as we've seen. It was snowing constantly. The interesting distractions were . . . we'll interesting just doesn't say enough.

From left to right, starting in the back:

  • Judge Denise Castonguay
  • Livvy -- Callard and Bowser's Olivia, CGC, Delta, DD watched in awe by Robert Petersen
  • Jersey -- Pouch Cove's Dream Maker, DD handled by Molly O'Connell
  • Chuckie -- CH Blossom Hill Cedar Brook CD, DD handled by Huck Bothner
  • Jimmy -- CH Council Cup's Star of Kodiak Acres, DD handled by Sheila Luca
  • Judge Donna Thibault
  • Maya -- Kilyka's Queen Maya Snowhaven CD, WD, DD handled by Kikuko Chang
  • Lewis -- Spellbound's Northwest Explorer DD handled by Todd Bennett

This event was very well organized (many thanks to Sue Mendleson) , well judged (many thanks to Denise and Donna), and well earned (Way To Go Puppies !!). Several of us were "right on the bubble" when it was all said and done. One winner really wanted to leave the ring early; one used up one of her two "on haul pee events" and there were some close calls in other ways as well. Our thoughts are with Oxana who suffered a broken ankle. Speedy recovery!

The judges tell us that there are fewer than 2 dozen DDs awarded during the winter tests so far. I think I know why.

The glory belongs to those with the courage to take on the hill.

I won't be surprised if we see another familiar face out there after today's events.

Youngest is Lewis at age 2
Eldest is Livvy at age 9

The Myth of "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" is seriously busted.

So, how about some names Bob, I recognize Molly, Sheila and Kikuko in the pinnies and it looks like you and is that Kathy in the sunglasses? Too bad about Oksana, hope she's OK soon.
