Maxine was very fast when I started training her. Once I was ready to go off leash I still wanted to be able to have some control because she would get far ahead of me. I used a 10 ft leash. It gave her the freedom of working in front on me and turning wide on her turns and not having to be close to me but I could always correct her to slow her down, stop or tighten the turn. It seemed to work because now she is listening well no matter where I work around her.
