Nellie wins her first point!!!

Horray for Nellie, Molly, and Kiko!
Nellie earned her first point today at the Fitchburg shows!
We are so proud of all of our pups who showed this weekend.  Each and every one represented their breed and their adoring MMN fans wonderfully!  And we thank the impressive handlers, Kiko and Monica, who make it look so easy!

January 7, 2011 Draft Training

MMN had our 2nd draft training of 2011.  Since we had some new snow, we made use of that practicing pulling sleds in the yard.  Bruin who is quite skilled at the cart tried the sled for the first time and he was terrific.  We also took a short freight haul around the neighborhood with the carts and practiced some basic control skills too.  The group down/stay, the controlled walking and the recalls all went great.  We also had time for a bit of puppy romping in the snow while we had our customary pot luck dinner inside.  Birdie thanks Nella, Nellie, and Ceilidh for the playtime!

January 1 start to draft training in 2011

MMN had a great start to 2011 today at Hopkinton State Park. We had a great turn out and the weather was positively spring like. The newfs had a lot of passers by stopping to ask questions about what these large dogs were doing.

Below, Bruin is practicing his hauling skills.

Flower is getting used to having the cart following her before getting hitched up the first time.

Nellie is stopping for a scenic photo op.

Xena and Gabby are enjoying their perch on the large rocks.

Birdie is weaving the cones working on left/right commands.

And this is the photo right before Ellie decided it would be great fun to leap into the frozen lake. (Don't worry, she's fine. . .)
